Geographical location and nature
The Křivoklátsko region occupies the southeastern part of Rakovník District. The Berounka River crosses the region from west to east. In 1978, the Křivoklátsko region was declared a protected landscape area. It includes deep forests that rulers from Prague once used for recreation and hunting. A nature trail leads from Mutějovice railway station to the Kounov Stone Rows. Along the Berounka, there are natural formations, including the Skryjská Lake nature reserve, as well as a fossil museum.
