Lubná: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In the historic centre of Lubná, gable-fronted houses and agricultural farmsteads arranged around a large oval central village square have been uniquely preserved.

Culture and History

The earliest written reference to Lubná mentions the place in 1057 as “Luben”. The Palaeolithic settlement makes Lubná one of the most significant Gravettian sites in the Czech lands.

The Church of St George is a rural church building with late Baroque elements, erected on the site of a medieval church dating from the 14th century. The development of Lubná in the 19th century was shaped by the discovery of hard coal and, several decades later, slate, as well as their gradual extraction. The Sv. Rocha shaft in Lubná was opened in 1821 as the first shaft.

Landscape and Bodies of Water

Lubná lies in a gently rolling, agricultural landscape between the valley of the Rakovnický potok to the north and Senecká hora to the south. The Černý potok rises in the territory of Lubná and is a right-bank tributary of the Rakovnický potok.

Routes and Discoveries

The Planetární stezka is a model of the Solar System at a scale of 1:1 billion. It comprises 12 stations with information panels. The distances between the celestial bodies shown are represented to scale as walking distances between the stations.

Lubná has a red-marked hiking trail maintained by the KČT. A cycle path leads from Lubná to Rakovník. In the vicinity of Lubná, a renovated municipal path along the airport offers opportunities for walks and cycling tours. A new 4.7 km circular route runs from Lubná along the airport grounds to the Lubná–Rakovník cycle route.

Lubná railway station is located on regional single-track, non-electrified railway line No. 162 between Rakovník and Kralovice.

Geographical Setting

The Kamenolom Brant quarry extends across the cadastral areas of Lubná u Rakovníka and Senec u Rakovníka. At Kamenolom Brant, a powerful vein of quartz-diorite porphyry cuts through Neoproterozoic slate and greywacke.

Access to Kamenolom Brant is possible only with special permission, as the site includes a military area, a quarry and private property.
