Landscape and Nature

The area of the municipality of Kolešov is intensively used for agriculture. Particularly large arable areas and several hop-growing areas shape the landscape. At the southern edge, Jesenicko Nature Park extends only slightly into the area of Kolešov. Babí doly is a registered landscape feature: a pronounced valley depression with diverse woody vegetation.

The Ořešník hill is located in the vicinity of Kolešov. The hills Lovíčský les and Pláň [Děkov] are also located nearby. The Džbán mountain, on the other hand, is located in the wider regional surroundings of Kolešov.

History and Cultural Heritage

The first written mention of Kolešov, then villam feodalem Colessow, dates from 1319. In 1623, Heřmen u Questenburku bought the village; as a result, Kolešov became part of the Nepomyšl estate. After the re-emigration in 1946–1947, properties and farms in Kolešov were occupied by Czechs originating from Volhynia.

The site of Svatý Prokop, registered as a monument, is located in the wider regional surroundings of Kolešov. The ruins Zřícenina Lina and Zřícenina Pravda are also located there. U Svatého Gotharda, a site registered as a church, is likewise located in the wider regional surroundings.
