Lišany: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In Lišany, the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is a Baroque building constructed on the foundations of an older Gothic church. Its high altar features a painting of the Assumption of Mary by Josef Hueber from 1763.

Culture and history

The history of the village also includes the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, which is protected as a cultural monument in Lišany. Antonín Pelc, an academic painter, illustrator and political caricaturist, is also associated with the village: he was born in Lišany on 16 January 1895 and exhibited in Europe, the United States and Latin America.

The historic building of the primary school in Lišany is a Neo-Renaissance structure dating from 1884. A royal court in Lišany is documented in records for the year 1252. Also in 1252, King Václav issued a charter in Lišany for the Vyšehrad Chapter.

Buildings and traces of the past

The Podhůrka Mill, also known as Zákonův mlýn, lies near an old trade route and was first mentioned in 1521. The V Brůdku Viaduct is part of the Buštěhrad Railway, which was built between 1870 and 1883. An old wooden shepherd's hut has been preserved in Ovčín.

The Bílý Bridge over the Lišanský stream at the entrance to Lišany from the direction of Rakovník dates from 1924 and is considered an architecturally interesting structure.

Nature and paths

The Pod rybníčky natural forest park includes a reed-bed biotope and an open meadow. Cycle Route 8168 between Lužná u Rakovníka and Kněževes also runs through Lišany.

Event

The 13th edition of the New Year's walking event “Novoroční šlapka”, with registration at the Sokolovna, was scheduled to take place in Lišany on 10 January 2026.
