Děkov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

An Early Baroque church dating from 1664 stands in Děkov on the site of an older place of worship, which was already mentioned in 1361. The Church of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist was rebuilt in 1729 and extended in 1868, presumably by lengthening the western part of the nave with a choir gallery.

Culture and Villagescape

The earliest mentions of the village of Děkov date from 1325. Its present-day building structure is a compact rural street settlement with original farmsteads along the main road and a wider area around the village square. The historic building stock also includes House No. 23, a longitudinally oriented building with a half-timbered upper floor.

Another landmark in the village is the Chapel under the Lime Trees. The Late Baroque roadside chapel has rich architectural detailing and a square floor plan; it is accompanied by four newly planted lime trees.

Landscape

Děkov lies in the landscape of the Džbán Nature Park. This includes Děkovská stráň, a registered significant landscape feature with thermophilous grassland communities on steep slopes and around rock outcrops. The relief-rich landscape has a mosaic structure of fields, meadows, hop gardens and forests.

The Zlatý potok stream rises in the territory of Děkov. At the same time, Děkov is a traditional hop-growing municipality.

Getting Around

Děkov has no rail connection. Cycle Route 8167 includes the Vlkov–Děkov section and forms part of the 42.9 km Klečetné–Třeboc route.
