Slabce combines a multifaceted local history with a freely accessible castle park, signposted trails and a number of notable buildings. Between the castle, church, mill and chapels, a tangible picture of the locality emerges, while the surrounding area and wider region offer additional destinations.

Culture and History

Slabce Castle was founded at the beginning of the 18th century by Karel Vančura z Řehnic. The castle complex includes the romantic castle park, which is a local excursion destination and freely accessible. Slabce's Empire-style castle itself is not accessible. The castle complex is not separated from the surrounding area by walls or fences; only two short sections of wall remain on the eastern side.

St. Nicholas Church also reaches far back into the locality's history: according to tradition, its origins date back to the beginning of the 12th century, while it acquired its present form during a comprehensive reconstruction at the end of the 18th century. Another historical trace is the Čechův válcový mlýn roller mill. It was built in 1918–1919 by the miller Václav Čech from Šlovice and was the first electrically powered mill in Czechoslovakia.

The architectural heritage also includes the Nanebevstoupení Páně cemetery chapel in Slabce. It is dedicated to the Ascension of Christ and dates from 1869. The Slabce rectory is a late Baroque complex with a building featuring a mansard roof and partially preserved farm buildings. A metal plaque on the rectory commemorates the stay there of the priest Josef Antonín Janiš from 1777 to 1784.
