Senec: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Below Senecká hora, the Jalový potok rises within the municipal area of Senec. It is a right-bank tributary of the Rakovnický potok. A red-marked hiking trail of the KČT also runs through Senec.

Nature and trails

Senecký rybník is one of Senec’s natural and scenic assets. The Zvědavá stezka from Senec to Pavlíkov begins at the bus stop on Senec’s village green and leads from the village-green side in Senec along a dirt track to Senecký rybník. It is approximately 4 km long and is classified as easy. Senecký rybník has a so-called “kašnový přeliv” overflow structure.

Culture and history

Senec No. 2 is a log cabin and is considered one of the settlement’s cultural and historical assets. Senec was founded under King John after 1325. The squirrel was added to Senec’s municipal coat of arms in 2002.

Tomáš Antonín Pánek spent part of his childhood in Senec. He set the plot of his 1946 novel Bouřňák in Senec and its surroundings.

In the immediate vicinity of Senec, on the eastern spur of Senecká hora, there is a modern lookout tower with two viewing platforms and views of the Krušné hory and Šumava. Also in the immediate vicinity of Senec, Brant, a former mining settlement, was founded around the middle of the 19th century as a reminder of the area’s historic coal mining.
