Kalivody: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Kalivodské bučiny is an almost 200-hectare site of European significance, with beech stands up to 150 years old. The Dolíky landscape near Kalivody is part of Džbán Nature Park. It is characterised by long, deep valleys and extensive forests consisting predominantly of beech trees, and protects this landscape.

Hiking

The Bučinami ke štole Jindřich hike is an approximately 6-kilometre circular route. It starts at the picnic area next to the inn in Kalivody, runs mainly along forest roads and paths, and is not marked. It is not suitable for walks with a pushchair. Along the way, the hike leads to a shelter with play features, including a wooden xylophone.

Every year on the last Saturday in June, Kalivody hosts the hiking and Nordic walking event Kalivodské hůlkování. It is open to everyone who would like to take part in the hike.

Routes and Educational Trail

The circular route Za falešnou borovicí is approximately 11 kilometres long and leads from Kalivody via Bdín and Vošková Mountain to Přerubenice and back to Kalivody. Along the way, it offers views of the surrounding valleys. Kalivody lies outside marked hiking trails, as well as marked cycling paths and cycle touring routes.

An information board on the Naučná stezka Kalivodské bučiny educational trail provides information about the management of forest stands, the importance of old and dead trees for forest life, and the importance of the beech tree to people. Another board on the educational trail along the hike provides information about coal mining in the area around Kalivody and points out the Jindřich coal adit, approximately 50 metres away.

History and Stories

The Štola Jindřich bears witness to deep mining of hard coal dating from around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Stories are also told in the area around Kalivody about the Lord of Kalivody with a black soul.
