Mšec: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Mšec lies on the border of the Džbán Nature Park and the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area. Forests are located in the northern part of Mšec; thanks to its ponds, the town has been a recreational area for many years. The Mšecký Walking Circuit educational trail is also located in the town.

Culture and History

Mšec Castle was built on the site of a medieval fortress in several construction phases. The castle building contains Renaissance elements, including a portal, is Baroque in style from the 18th century, and was remodelled in the Neoclassical style in the 19th century. The courtyard of Mšec Castle and the castle park are freely accessible; however, the castle park is neglected. The castle itself is usually not accessible, but a public guided tour with a historical exhibition takes place every year in June.

The Mšec Museum presents the history of the town of Mšec in three exhibition rooms and displays a 3 × 4 metre diorama of the town. The listed church complex of the Church of St Catherine of Alexandria in Mšec includes the Chapel of St John of Nepomuk, an enclosing wall with a mortuary, the vicarage at No. 45, the gate of the vicarage grounds, a barn, and the designated plots of the complex. The Church of St Catherine of Alexandria is a late Baroque church dating from 1780 and replaced an older church of Gothic origin.

Getting There

The easiest way to reach Mšec is by car. Bus connections to Mšec are only good on weekdays; there is no railway connection to Mšec.
