Karlova Ves: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Karlova Ves is located in the wooded central part of the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area. In the surrounding area, protected forest landscapes, marked trails and impressive traces of Bohemian history come together.

Nature and Landscape

Most of the cadastral area of Karlova Ves lies in the central part and Zone I of the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area. In the protected landscape area where Karlova Ves is located, the forests consist predominantly of deciduous and mixed stands.

The Týřov National Nature Reserve includes extensive, preserved forest stands. It also contains the rocky gorge of the Týřovické skály.

Culture and History

Týřov Castle was built in the 13th century and fell into ruin in the 16th century. Karlova Ves was founded in 1828 as a settlement of lumberjacks and charcoal burners and became a major centre of charcoal production in the Křivoklátsko region.

The poet Antonín Macek is also associated with Karlova Ves; he came to the village for summer stays from 1919 to 1923. The Emilovna hunting lodge was built in the 19th century by Prince Emil von Fürstenberg. At the crossroads in front of the hunting lodge stands a replica of three stone balls.

Hiking Trails and Nature Experiences

The 10 km-long, moderately difficult “Okolí Skryj” hiking trail is signposted in the immediate vicinity. In the immediate vicinity, this trail passes through the Jezírka Nature Reserve, which is known for a rocky gorge. The trail also leads to the Joachim Barrande Memorial, a museum with palaeontological finds, in the immediate vicinity.

The Týřov National Nature Reserve is accessible to the public exclusively via a marked hiking trail from Skryje to the ruins of Týřov Castle and back. On the way to the castle ruins, follow the Úpořský Stream, also called Oupořský, cross it and then climb up to the castle ruins. Týřov offers a magnificent view of the Berounka and the surrounding area.
