Rakovník combines historic cultural sites with an attractive natural landscape. Its brewing tradition includes a brewery founded in 1454, where Bakalář beer is still brewed today.

Culture

The main building of the Rakovník Museum offers permanent exhibitions, two exhibition halls for temporary projects, a lecture hall, and an outdoor geological exhibition in Parkan. The Church of St. Bartholomew is a late Gothic, three-nave stone building with richly furnished interiors. The bell tower next to the church was built in 1495 and houses two bells.

The Vysoká brána is a 46-metre-high town tower and now serves as an observation tower. As a listed cultural monument, Lechnýřovna is now used as an exhibition space as well as for lectures and other events for a limited number of visitors. The Rakovník Synagogue was built in 1763, is a Jewish cultural monument, and now serves as a concert hall.

The Rabas Gallery in Rakovník presents a permanent exhibition featuring works by landscape painter Václav Rabas, including “Vzpomínka na maminku” and “Včelařské zátiší”.

Nature and Cycling

The area around Rakovník is suitable for walks and cycling tours through an attractive natural landscape. A 14-kilometre cycling route to Křivoklát begins at Husovo náměstí in Rakovník, follows the Rakovnický potok, and runs along an easy route also suitable for families with children.
