Krupá: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Krupá’s history is visibly reflected in the Church of Saint Gothard. The Baroque-style building preserves Gothic masonry; its present appearance dates from a Baroque reconstruction. South of Krupá, the church stands on the site of the former village square. It is not open to the public, but it can be viewed from the outside.

Culture and History

The medieval settlement of Kostelec, which disappeared in 1318, was situated around the Church of Saint Gothard; medieval pottery finds in the surrounding fields provide evidence of it. Krupá has been documented since the 15th century under its former name, Kostelec. During the Thirty Years’ War, Krupá was destroyed and subsequently rebuilt.

In the vicinity of Krupá, the local history museum in Hředle displays archaeological finds, old agricultural equipment, hop stamps, a preserved tower clock mechanism and documents from the communist era. Also in the vicinity, the Hrnčírna Jiřího a Daniely Duchkových pottery produces functional and decorative ceramics. Hrnčírna Mutějovice brings the past to life with replicas of historical vessels and rediscovers forgotten and lost pottery-making techniques and processes.

In the vicinity of Krupá, Džbán Castle can be reached from Mutějovice railway station via a green-marked hiking trail.

Nature

Near Krupá lies the forested Louštín, 536 metres high, with a lookout point offering views of the surrounding landscape. Louštín preserves traces of a hillfort dating from the Hallstatt and La Tène periods, around 500 BC.

In the wider regional surroundings of Krupá, the Džbán Uplands were declared a nature park in 1994 because of their exceptional and well-preserved landscape and natural character. In the vicinity of Krupá, visitors can drink water with a high iron content at the Merkovka spring and walk through old beech forests. Merkovka offers seating for tourists and an information board about the history of the former spa resort.

There is also a children’s playground in the village itself. The Robin Hippotherapy Centre offers psychotherapeutic activities with horses in Krupá; Ranch Aura is available in Krupá as a leisure facility.

Geographical Location

The D6 road, formerly the R6, runs through Krupá. The Praha–Lužná–Chomutov railway line also runs through Krupá.
