In the area of the Arquitectura Negra in the Sierra Norte de Guadalajara Nature Park, the landscape includes small villages that have preserved their distinctive architecture, based on the local black slate, over the centuries. Hita lies on the A-2 Madrid–Zaragoza motorway and can be reached from Guadalajara via regional roads. La Caballada de Atienza takes place every year; its ritual acts have been faithfully repeated for centuries.
