Culture and History

The Iglesia de Santa Cecilia is a 16th-century building. The Iglesia parroquial de Santa Cecilia preserves a Romanesque baptismal font. Its tower was once a watchtower of the castle and is connected to the church building by a rocky pass.

The cemetery of Almoguera contains the remains of a 12th-century Romanesque church; only its broad, semicircular apse has survived. Southeast of Almoguera, the Ermita del Santísimo Cristo de las Injurias stands at the site of the former settlement of Santa Cruz. It was built in 1518. Inside, there is a Baroque altarpiece from the 18th century.

The remains of a castle of Arab origin in Almoguera were expanded by the Order of Calatrava and are currently used as a park. The Casa de la Cultura in Almoguera housed a permanent exhibition and a documentary film commemorating days of destruction and solidarity.
