The Camino de Carlos III is a named hiking route in the area around Solanillos del Extremo. The RCGU-12 Camino de Haya del Cerro is a 9 km circular route lasting approximately three and a half hours; after 9 km, it enters Solanillos del Extremo via the Fuente del Pozo. The route runs over the long Haya del Cerro ridge, and both sides of this ridge can be seen along the way.

The Camino de la Piedra del Castillo is an easy 12.22 km hiking route with an elevation gain of 197 m and runs through the area around the Fuente del Pozo. Culture and hydraulic heritage

The Iglesia parroquial de Santiago Apóstol is a parish church built in the 16th century and altered in 1802. Its four-part tower is divided by slight cornices; the single-nave church has a plaster vault.

The Ermita de la Virgen de la Soledad is an elongated chapel south of the town area, near the road to Henche and by the cemetery. It has a semicircular chancel flanked by buttresses. North of the town area, next to the road leading into the town, stands the small Ermita de Santa Bárbara with a square floor plan.

The Fuente del Pozo consists of a large, carefully hewn limestone wall with a chapel-like central opening and broad stone water channels. It is the largest of approximately twenty fountains in the municipality. The fountains of Solanillos del Extremo form part of a historic hydraulic heritage that has been preserved over time. The large, square basin of the Fuente del Pozo was presumably formerly used for watering animals and washing clothes.

Getting there

The narrow, winding GU-927 road leads from Cifuentes to Solanillos del Extremo. The fastest route from Guadalajara to Solanillos del Extremo is via the A-2 to exit 73, then along the CM-2011 to Brihuega, continuing via the CM-2005 and, after crossing the Tajuña, via the GU-925.
