Nature

The Río Tajuña forms riverside areas that allow walks and routes along the river. The natural landscape of Loranca de Tajuña contains numerous centuries-old springs and fountains.

Culture and History

The parish church of San Pedro Apóstol dates from the 16th century and is attributed to Juan de la Riba. Its interior has three naves with ribbed vaults, as well as a baptismal font with simple geometric decoration and Mozarabic arches. The sacristy contains a painting of Saint Cecilia attributed to the 17th-century Madrid school.

The Convento de Jesús del Monte dates from the 16th century. Its ruins belong to a former Jesuit college or residence from Alcalá that was abandoned after the expulsion of the Jesuits in the 18th century. The Torre del Reloj consists of several structures and dates from the 18th century.

The Ermita de la Soledad dates from the 16th century and is located outside the town. Since 2015, it has been closed due to the risk of collapse and an imminent danger of structural failure; access is prohibited. A large four-pipe fountain from the 19th century is one of Loranca de Tajuña's attractions.

Trails and Festivals

The La Fuente Pera route is a public hiking trail in Loranca de Tajuña created for recreational and sporting use. The course of the II Trail de Loranca de Tajuña follows a short ascent to the ruins referred to as the old mill.

In 2026, the VII Circuito comarcal de carreras de montaña Vega del Tajuña offers a competitive 16/17 km trail, a competitive 6/9 km trail, and a non-competitive 6/9 km hiking option. In 2026, the circuit will be held jointly with Loranca de Tajuña, Balconete, Malacuera, Valfermoso de Tajuña, Romancos and Brihuega; the Ayuntamiento de Loranca de Tajuña is also involved in its organization.

The III Trail de Loranca de Tajuña was listed for January 24, 2026; the I Trail marked the beginning of the Circuito Vega del Tajuña. A celebration in honor of the Santísimo Cristo de la Misericordia takes place on September 14.

The patronal festival in honor of Saint Dominic of Guzmán is celebrated on August 3 with Vespers, a solemn Mass and an evening procession. Over several days, there are also dances, competitions, tournaments, bull runs through the streets and on foot in the countryside, followed by a popular Caldereta.

The Encierro route begins at the Corrales on Calle La Cruz and continues along Calle de Don Valentín Ayuso, Calle San Roque and Calle Manuel Corral to the public path and the area known as “El Molino”.

The Public Library of Loranca de Tajuña provides information services for cultural, educational, leisure and entertainment needs; its public areas can be used freely and free of charge.
