Cycling

The western cycling route runs for 83 km between Crozant and Saint-Martin-Sainte-Catherine, passing through La Souterraine. The eastern cycling route stretches for 174 km from Boussac-Chambonchard to Vassivière, passing through Aubusson. Northern and southern connections form a 426 km departmental cycling loop. The Tour de la Creuse à vélo covers 327 km; additional connections lead into neighbouring areas.

The Tour de la Creuse à vélo is fully signposted in both directions. It passes through rural areas with limited services and is intended for experienced cyclists or people with e-bikes. In addition, Creuse maintains and marks around 660 km of GR hiking trails and 570 km of GRP hiking trails.

Nature

The Réserve Naturelle Nationale de l’étang des Landes covers more than 100 hectares and is the largest pond in Limousin. The Réserve de l’Etang des Landes provides a habitat for more than 230 bird species and more than 400 plant varieties. A 7 km signposted trail runs around the Réserve Naturelle de l’Etang des Landes; four observation points around the Etang des Landes make it possible to observe birds in the reserve.

A trail of just under 3 km provides an accessible route to the Affût des Trois Bouleaux. The Maison de la Réserve is the main information point for visitors before they explore the site. In the wider natural area, the Parc Naturel Régional de Millevaches en Limousin extends across Creuse, Haute-Vienne and Corrèze and includes wetlands, lakes, rivers, forests and meadows.

Culture

The Cité internationale de la tapisserie in Aubusson combines a museum, a centre for contemporary design and the transmission of textile expertise. The museums of Creuse explore local history, traditional skills, artistic heritage and rural life.

Water

Vassivière has two zones for motorised water sports. Water skiing, towed tube rides and wakeboarding are available there. At Vassivière, visitors can also use the FFCK Sentiers Nautiques® by canoe, kayak or stand-up paddle, with a certified guide or using a topoguide.
