Lourdoueix-Saint-Pierre: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

From the Point de vue du Pin, you can see the privately owned Château de Vost, which dates from the late 14th century and was remodelled in the 19th century. The viewpoint also offers a beautiful view northwards across the municipality as far as Aigurande.

History

The Lords of Vost from the Ajasson family exercised jurisdiction from the 12th century until 1654; they collected taxes as far as the upper end of Rue de la Marche in Aigurande.

Hiking

La Taille Minaud is an easy 6.5 km circular walking route and takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. Lourdoueix-Saint-Pierre is the starting point of the hike. GPX and KML files are available for La Taille Minaud to export the route to a navigation device or another navigation tool.

La Font du Beau is a difficult 21.6 km circular walking route with a duration of approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes. Lourdoueix-Saint-Pierre is also the starting point of this hike. The LSP4 La Font du Beau circular trail includes an 800-metre out-and-back variant.

Nature

The Vallon de La Mitaine is a pleasant, well-shaded place for walks. The Chemin de Crachepot runs alongside the water supply of a former grain mill, which was fed by the Ruisseau de La Forêt with a strong flow of water.

Culture

The Eglise Saint Pierre Es Liens is dedicated to Saint Peter in Chains (“Saint Pierre ès liens”). On 1 August, the miracle in which the chains of Peter, who was imprisoned in Jerusalem, fell off is commemorated; a procession is also held to the fountain dedicated to him, whose water was believed to have medicinal properties. A pulpit basin in the Eglise Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens has been reused as an ambo in the choir. The Fontaine Saint-Pierre is topped by a cross dating from 1886.

The Chapelle de Lignaud dates from the 13th century and was rebuilt in the 18th century. It has a bell tower with chestnut-wood shingles. The Lavoir de Lignaud is a restored, covered washhouse with a roof orientation unusual for the Creuse.

The water of the Fontaine de Lignaud was believed to cure fevers and certain illnesses.
