The circular hiking trail Circuit pédestre n° GB3 L'Etang de la Ribbe is a 13.9-kilometre, moderately difficult loop on foot in Le Grand-Bourg. On the GB3 circular route, bald cypresses can be seen by a pond; via Livergnat and Laugères, the trail returns to Le Grand-Bourg.

Before the village, the GB1 circular route passes a pond where grey herons often fish. The Les Méandres de la Gartempe Boucle locale 9 runs along small, hedge-lined roads through alternating flat and hilly landscapes beside the Gartempe. There are numerous mills in the Gartempe Valley of Le Grand-Bourg.

Culture and History

The Église de l'Assomption-de-la-Très-Sainte-Vierge in Le Grand-Bourg was classified as a historic monument by decree of 24 August 1929. The Eglise Notre Dame was built in the 12th century and rebuilt in the 16th and 17th centuries. Its choir contains a granite high relief of the Virgin and Child dating from the 13th century.

The Fontaine de St Léobon is one of the local cultural heritage attractions of Le Grand-Bourg. The history of the village is linked to the medieval hermit Saint Léobon, who according to tradition is considered the founder of the village.
