Bétête: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

“Bétête and its pond” is a 1.8 km heritage trail with a stated duration of 45 minutes. It is also considered a very easy walking route, allowing visitors to walk around the Étang de Bétête.

When personally planning a stay in Bétête, renting a holiday apartment may also be an option.

Nature and Trails

The Étang de Bétête covers 1.5 hectares; fishing is possible there for a full day or half a day.

Culture and Townscape

The church of Bétête is of Romanesque origin and dates back to the 12th century. Its bell tower has a square base typical of the Creuse, which transitions into an octagonal spire. The Église de Bétête was open to the public.

The Lavoir de la Font-Pérenche is a traditional covered washhouse with granite washing slabs.

In the centre of Bétête stands a typical house from the 1920s and 1930s, built in the style of Norman seaside villas. This house is an architectural curiosity in the centre of Bétête.

Further Historical Traces

At the Abbaye de Prébenoît, the staircase area and room A5 are decorated with early 18th-century wall paintings. The depictions show the abbey, flowers and floral ornaments.

Only a door decorated with a three-lobed arch and some remnants of the walls remain from the Gothic chapel of the Abbaye de Prébenoît.

To the overarching travel overview: Creuse.
