Valladolid: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Culture and history

During the presence of the court of Felipe III in Valladolid, Miguel de Cervantes lived at the House of Cervantes and Museum from 1601 to 1606 and wrote several of his Novelas ejemplares there. The House of Cervantes and Museum is the only surviving Cervantes house in Spain.

The Main Square was the first geometrically regular square laid out in Spain. The Iglesia de San Pablo has an imposing façade in the Isabelline Gothic style, known as a “retablo en piedra” (“stone altarpiece”). The tower of the Iglesia de San Martín illustrates the transition from Romanesque to Gothic architecture.

The Espacio Seminci is a permanent centre for film culture and documentation of the Semana Internacional de Cine de Valladolid (Seminci). The Museo de Arte Africano Arellano Alonso of the UVa permanently displays art from sub-Saharan Africa, including traditional coins, figurative terracotta sculptures and objects from the Kingdom of Oku in Cameroon.

The Contemporary Art Museum provides a comprehensive overview of Spanish art and its development from 1918 to the present day. It also presents temporary exhibitions that mainly focus on new artistic proposals.

The Museo Nacional de Escultura comprises more than 6,000 objects dating from the late Middle Ages to the 20th century. The Museo Nacional de Escultura includes Spanish religious polychrome wooden sculptures from the 15th to the 18th century.
