In the Entorno del Lago, the memory of a natural lagoon that gave Laguna de Duero its name lives on.

History and Architecture

The surviving remains of the Bosque Real de Felipe II are limited to a 7,654-foot-long stone enclosure with battlemented towers, an entrance gate bearing the coat of arms of the Catholic Monarchs, and a hunting palace or hunters’ lodge with the same coat of arms.

The surviving remains of the Convento del Abrojo include walls, the cellar and the Fuente de San Pedro Regalado.

The Ermita de Nuestra Señora del Villar is a 16th-century single-nave building with an octagonal apse and a star-ribbed vault.

Festivals and Culture

Artelago takes place every year on the first weekend of June. Twenty-five craft stalls are spread across 14 hands-on workshops, where visitors can take part in making handicrafts. The Artelago and Son de Aquí programmes also include concerts, workshops and craft products.

The Ruta de Pinchos has been held since 2007 in connection with the San Pedro Regalado festival; participating food establishments offer visitors specially prepared pinchos over one weekend.

Son de Aquí features street processions and stage performances by groups playing traditional music.

The Casa de las Artes offers theatre, circus, music, dance and family performances.

The Certamen Nacional de Esculturas Flotantes takes place in the Entorno del Lago at the end of August and beginning of September. The different event periods can be considered side by side when planning a trip; depending on your interests, the focus may be on participating, listening, watching or pinchos.

History and architecture, nature trails, event formats and culinary offerings represent different areas of focus.
