Discover Villanubla: Gothic architecture, paloteo and the Green Route

Villanubla is home to the Iglesia Parroquial Asunción de Nuestra Señora, a Gothic stone building dating from the 16th century. Valladolid Airport is located within the municipality of Villanubla. Culture and history

The Ermita Cristo de la Salud consists of two sections and a portico. It is located at Camino del Cementerio 1 in Villanubla. The Convento de los Santos de Villanubla was built in 1431 on land donated to the Augustinian Juan de Alarcón by Bishop Roberto de Moya. The Convento de los Santos de Villanubla received privileges from Juan II and Charles I. In 1835, it was permanently closed as a result of Mendizábal's confiscation decrees. Its foundation, royal privileges and subsequent closure mark different stages in its history.

Villanubla preserves the tradition of “paloteo”, a typical Castilian dance in which sticks decorated with ribbons are struck against one another, with the dance steps passed down from generation to generation. Every year, Villanubla hosts the Feria de los Oficios, supported by local associations, craftspeople and residents. The two references connect a traditional form of dance with an annual event involving local participants.

Routes and summer

The Tren Burra Green Route runs between Zaratán and Villanubla. The route therefore has clearly defined start and end points. Villanubla has a municipal swimming pool. For the 2026 summer season, an extension of the season passes was offered.
