Valdenebro de los Valles – Church, Landscape and Festivals
Valdenebro de los Valles lies on the border between the two northern Valladolid landscapes of Tierra de Campos and Montes Torozos; the village centre is situated on the slopes of the Torozos plateau.
Landscape
The village lies on a small hill surrounded by valleys; its mountains and pine, oak and holm oak forests are considered hunting grounds and recreational areas. The slopes at the foot of the Torozos plateaus offer good views and are suitable for photography. The geographical setting combines two landscape names with a clearly described village location: Tierra de Campos and Montes Torozos stand alongside each other, while the village centre lies on the Torozos slopes. In Valdenebro de los Valles, the landscape, local history and events can therefore be considered as distinct focal points.
Culture
The church of San Vicente Mártir is a Gothic building from the 16th century with a single nave, a ribbed vault with lunettes and a star vault over the main chapel. An old sundial is located on the wall of the church facing Calle Troya; it is considered one of the oldest in Valladolid. The church is attributed to the Palencian architect Gaspar de Solórzano.
The site of the former church of Santa María de Troya is now the village cemetery. The former medieval church of Santa María de Troya outside the town walls has survived only in sparse and heavily mutilated remains. Most houses in Valdenebro de los Valles are made of stone; some bear coats of arms. The village therefore presents the surviving church of San Vicente Mártir, the traces of Santa María de Troya and the stone houses with their coats of arms as distinct historical points of reference.
Festivals and Events
Valdenebro de los Valles holds the Fiestas de San Vicente Mártir every January. A visit to a livestock farm and a cheese-making workshop were scheduled for 8 August 2026. The festival programme for August 2026 listed the II “Villa de Valdenebro” championship in tango and traditional games at 7:30 p.m.
A night-time stargazing session at 10:00 p.m. with Beatriz Varona, a professional astronomer, astrophysicist and science communicator, was announced from the Camino de la Cerra. The listed events in Valdenebro de los Valles differ in terms of season, time and type of event. The documented sequence therefore ranges from a January festival and daytime and early-evening events in August to the announced observation session at night.
A tourist information office is located at Plaza Mayor 1 in Valdenebro de los Valles.
