Routes

A planned network of 820 kilometres of cycle paths is intended for Marne. The Véloroute de la Vallée de la Marne crosses the département from west to east, initially along the river and then beside the Marne Canal. The Itinéraire vélo départemental n°5101 forms a 38.5-kilometre cycling connection between Reims and Épernay.

The Reims–Épernay cycle route is classified as difficult and, because of the challenging terrain and shared traffic, is intended for experienced cyclists. It passes through forests, vineyard slopes and typical villages of the Montagne de Reims regional nature park. The Dormans–Condé-sur-Marne section of the Vallée de la Marne cycle route is 45 kilometres long, rated easy and accessible to everyone.

Along this route, there are views of the Champagne hillsides, the Montagne de Reims regional nature park and remains from the First World War. The Chepy–Vitry-le-François cycling section crosses chalk landscapes associated with pilgrimage routes used by pilgrims via Vézelay and along the Via Francigena.
