Culture

Among the significant remains of the city fortifications is the Porte du Pont, one of the last surviving remnants of the fortifications of Vitry-le-François. It was dismantled stone by stone shortly before the beginning of the Second World War and rebuilt in 1985. On the southern side of the Collégiale Notre Dame there is a sundial; inside are chapels, altarpieces, paintings and relics.

Vitry-le-François is also the starting point of the tourist route Champagne des Coteaux Vitryats. The Espace Vitry Champagne et Der is a 124 m² museographic exhibition area arranged around the four elements of earth, fire, water and air. It can be visited independently free of charge on a permanent basis; guided tours are available on request.

Nature

The Arboretum du parc de l’Hôtel de Ville covers more than 2 hectares and presents 41 remarkable trees. Information is provided on a plan and via QR codes. The Jardin de l'Hôtel de Ville features a walking path, a playground, the Adam & Eve sculpture and an open-air theatre.

The banks of the canals and the Marne offer waterside walking routes around Vitry-le-François.

Leisure

Two of Vitry-le-François' three canals have been developed as greenways. The cycle path along the Canal latéral à la Marne in Vitry-le-François is the endpoint of the Véloroute 52. The Canal entre Champagne et Bourgogne is the starting point in Vitry-le-François for the Véloroute 53 towards Langres.

Depending on the size of the boats, the port of Vitry-le-François can accommodate 10 to 12 boats. The harbour master's office at the Port de plaisance has a reception point; from there, a greenway begins for walks or cycling tours along the canal. The leisure facilities also include the Centre Aquatique La Salamandre, with swimming, play and leisure pools, a Pentagliss slide and a separate wellness area.
