Jâlons: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Wagner et Legile flour mill is located in Jâlons on the Somme-Soude and lies on the RN 3. A 19th-century mill building was expanded into the Wagner et Legile flour mill in the first half of the 20th century. In 1960, it processed 200 quintals of wheat daily for bakeries.

Culture

The Église Saint-Ephrem in Jâlons is a protected historic monument, placed under protection by decree of 8 July 1912. Its oldest part is a Romanesque crypt beneath the choir on the east side. The church is located at 12 Rue de la Mairie, 51150 Jâlons.

The Église Saint-Ephrem contains a statue of Saint Ephrem, which was protected as movable cultural heritage on 29 November 1982. The furnishings also include the statue of the Virgin and Child in Jâlons, a polychrome stone sculpture dating from the first quarter of the 14th century. The statue of Saint Catherine in Jâlons dates from the 15th century and was restored by Muriel Oiry in 2013.

History and Experiences

As part of the 2019 Heritage Days, the Église Saint-Ephrem offered a guided tour with commentary on sacred art, accompanied by a watercolour exhibition.

The Carrière de Jâlons is an open-pit sand and gravel quarry in ancient deposits of the Marne Valley. In 2023, it was part of the programme for the European Heritage Days and offered a free, self-guided visit with free admission on 16 September from 08:00 to 12:00; sturdy footwear was required.
