Nature
The landscape is also connected by the “Circuit entre vignes et cultures” hiking trail. In connection with this circular trail, it is described that winegrowing extends across the best-exposed slopes.
Culture
The collection of the Musée-hôtel Le Vergeur contains the pencil drawing “Église de Baslieux-sous-Châtillon” by Alfred Chevallier, created in the last quarter of the 19th century.
The Longueau Priory was founded in 1140 by Gaucher II, Lord of Châtillon, and was also endowed by the Counts of Châtillon. The approximately thirty sisters of the priory were dispersed in 1792 during the French Revolution. By 1871, only ruins of the priory remained, essentially the chapel.
In 2026, the Vign’Art festival installed the “Les Veilleurs de la vigne” installation in Baslieux-sous-Châtillon. Fiona Paterson’s work consists of three elongated silhouettes made from grapevines.
Wine
In Baslieux-sous-Châtillon, Champagne Franck Pascal offers vineyard tours and tastings of three different types of Champagne. Champagne Eric Taillet offers tours of the press house; cuvées made from 100 % Meunier can also be tasted there.
During a visit to Champagne Liébart-Régnier, visitors can discover the estate’s grape varieties; the visit concludes with a tasting of three wines.
