Culture
The Casque de Berru features two small coral beads at the base of the rear neck guard, along with engraved decoration that reinterprets a classical Greco-Etruscan palmette motif in the style of ancient Celtic art. It comes from a chariot burial in Berru (Marne) and is dated to around 375 BC. The piece consists of a single bronze sheet, shaped through metalworking.
The Église Saint-Martin de Berru has been classified as a historic monument in France since 22 July 1921.
Nature
Berru is part of the 536.31-hectare ZNIEFF area “Massif forestier du Mont de Berru”. It includes forests, scrubland, grassland, small marshes and notable ponds. This massif, which includes Berru, also contains calcareous grasslands with numerous orchids.
Paths and Races
The Balade fleurie de Berru is marked with yellow signs decorated with a red flower. It follows paths along the still-visible remains of the village fortifications.
The Trail du Mont de Berru comprises four race formats of approximately 10 km, 15 km, 20 km, and 30 to 32 km. At T.M.B. 2025, the four races were each loop courses starting in Berru and running across the Massif du Mont de Berru. The 10 km course and the 15 km DuoTrail used the same paths as the 20 km course.
