TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes was designed by the Swiss architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron together with the Canarian architect Virgilio Gutiérrez. The building features diagonal lines across different levels, sloping paths and a long ramp leading to the central courtyard. TEA also offers a diverse programme of audiovisual, educational and public activities.

The natural history collections of MUNA, Museo de Naturaleza y Arqueología, comprise 250,000 entries. The Museo Municipal de Bellas Artes displays works ranging from 16th-century Flemish painting to 19th-century paintings. Capilla de Carta is considered one of the finest examples of Canarian Baroque. Teatro Guimerá was inaugurated on 25 July 1851.

The Librea de Taganana is a recurring historical re-enactment and is one of the best-known and most deeply rooted traditions of the Anaga massif. Casa del Carnaval opened in 2017 to provide information about and promote Santa Cruz de Tenerife’s main carnival throughout the year. This carnival is the only festival in the Canary Islands recognised as being of international tourist interest. Casa del Carnaval is open daily free of charge from 10:00 to 18:30.

Parque García Sanabria combines sculptures of high artistic value with numerous tropical trees and plants.

Nature

Playa de Las Teresitas is protected from currents and waves by a breakwater, providing calm swimming conditions and a family-friendly atmosphere.

Parque Rural de Anaga includes, within the municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the districts of Taganana, Taborno and Afur, among others; 76% of its protected area lies within Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Palmetum de Santa Cruz transformed a former landfill into a place for leisure and botanical culture.

Getting around

Playa de Las Teresitas can be reached on foot, by car, bus or boat and has more than 1,000 free parking spaces. It offers step-free access and an adapted bathing service.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife has an interurban bus network operated by TITSA that connects the city with other municipalities on the island; a tram also connects the city with San Cristóbal de La Laguna. The port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife receives ferries to the eastern Canary Islands as well as cruise ships from Europe, Africa and America.

The approved PR-TF 2 hiking trail connects the hamlet of Taborno with the Valleseco district within the municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The circular PR-TF 8 hiking trail passes through Afur, Taganana and the Barranco de Tamadite, takes approximately 7 hours and has a moderate level of difficulty.
