Nature

The special protection objectives of the Sitio de Interés Científico de La Caleta include its seabird communities. An important access route to this area is a hiking trail that begins in the centre of La Caleta. The official hiking trails in the Sitio de Interés Científico de La Caleta have been maintained. The area can be reached via the TF-1 and TF-6231; at the end of the TF-6231 in La Caleta, you can park and continue along a designated hiking trail.

History and Culture

The Camino de la Virgen begins at the El Portón entrance gate on the road from Fañabé to La Caleta. It ends at the former La Enramada hermitage, now known as the old San Sebastián hermitage. The annual Rogativa de la Virgen de la Encarnación procession leads to the San Sebastián hermitage in La Caleta.

The coast of La Caleta historically served as the port of the Villa de Adeje and as the landing place of La Enramada. The pier at La Caleta was used to ship tomatoes and bananas. The settlement of La Caleta developed in the 20th century from fishing and farming carried out in the municipality.

Bus routes 448 and 449 connect the centre of Adeje with La Caleta.

The bathing area has neither beach facilities nor pedestrian access points such as steps or ramps.

The Mirador de La Caleta is located on the coast of Costa Adeje and is intended for walkers along the promenade. This promenade provides a 6 km-long route along the coast from La Caleta to Playa de Troya. The different types of paths and the specific length of the coastal route provide two separate points of comparison for planning your day. The natural beach of Playa de Diego Hernández is located near La Caleta and can be reached on foot via a hiking trail.
