Nature

Roque del Conde is a volcanic rock formation at around 1,000 metres above sea level and belongs to the Barranco del Infierno Special Nature Reserve. The Barranco del Infierno Special Nature Reserve covers 1,843.1 hectares within the municipality of Adeje.

History and Culture

Casa Fuerte was built in 1556 and was the political, economic and social centre of the jurisdiction of Adeje for three centuries. The sugar factory of Adeje associated with Casa Fuerte was built from 1554 onwards under Pedro de Ponte.

The Franciscan monastery of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe y San Pablo was declared a cultural asset of special interest in 1986 as a Bien de Interés Cultural in the Monument category. It was restored in 1991 and opened to the public as the Museo de Arte Sacro in May 1995.

The Iglesia de Santa Úrsula dates back to a chapel dedicated to Saint Ursula from the first half of the 16th century and was one of the first religious buildings in the south of Tenerife. It consists of two naves built during different construction periods. The church is distinguished by an interior roof structure in the Mudéjar style, sgraffiti on parts of the exterior wall surfaces, and a bell gable with a small pedestal bearing the head of an idol in its centre.

The public Fuente de los Tres Chorros was built in 1890 on Calle de Los Molinos. The name “Ruta del Agua” refers to the historic route of the water from Barranco del Infierno via the fountains and canals of Adeje’s town centre to the sea.
