Nature and landscapes

The southern section of the Colline de Sion-Vaudémont consists of limestone grassland with protected animals and plants. The Colline de Sion rises to 545 metres and extends in a semicircle over nearly 5 kilometres.

At the Colline de Sion, the Cité des Paysages offers a permanent landscape trail and exhibitions on biodiversity. The programme also includes workshops, exhibitions, night walks and nature excursions.

Lake Pierre-Percée is a 304-hectare artificial reservoir shaped like a maple leaf. It can be experienced through hikes and ziplining.

The Parc naturel régional de Lorraine has more than 500 kilometres of signposted trails, including family routes with an average duration of around three hours. The Sentier des Roises near Lucey combines the former heritage of hemp cultivation with amphibian observation and a vineyard trail. The Boucle de la Moselle runs mainly along greenways and shared minor roads, has little elevation gain and is suitable for cyclists of all levels.

Culture and history

The Place Stanislas, the Place de la Carrière and the Place d’Alliance in Nancy form a UNESCO World Heritage ensemble in Meurthe-et-Moselle. In the same city, bergamot sweets, macarons and Quiche Lorraine are presented as local gastronomic specialities.

The Route Touristique des Côtes de Toul runs along an approximately 30-kilometre north–south axis around Toul. In Vannes-le-Châtel, Cerfav presents exhibitions of contemporary glass art and offers demonstrations and hands-on activities.

The Musée des Émaux et Faïences de Longwy displays more than 200 Longwy enamel works and historic faience dinner services. Fort Escape in Blénod-les-Toul offers underground mazes, an escape game area, laser tag and paintball.

Food and drink

The AOC Côtes de Toul comprises 16 wineries covering around 120 hectares; two-thirds of production is organically certified. Gris de Toul is made from Gamay and Pinot Noir and paired locally with Quiche Lorraine, Pâté Lorraine, terrines and charcuterie.

The Maison de la Mirabelle explains the history, production and cultivation of mirabelle orchards in an educational visitor area. It also offers tastings, cocktail workshops and walks through orchards.

Getting around

Daily train services connect Meurthe-et-Moselle with major French and foreign cities.
