Val-Et-Châtillon: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture and History

The Château de Châtillon was built as a fortress at the end of the 13th or beginning of the 14th century. The entire estate has been protected as a historic monument since December 20, 2016.

The Musée du textile is housed in the former building of the Société Cotonnière Lorraine. It presents former tools as well as professions and techniques of textile workers that have since disappeared. Restored textile machines illustrate the processing stages from raw cotton to finished fabric. The museum also demonstrates the system of hydropower originally used by the textile mills, including the feeder canal and the turbines.

The Rochers d’Achiffet are a rocky massif several hundred meters long.

Paths and Rocks

The Sentier des Roches offers a circular trail at the edge of Val-et-Châtillon. It also leads to a detailed tour of the Roche du Renard, the Roche d’Achiffet, the Roche du Bajeu, the Roche de l’Écureuil, the Belle Roche avec grotte, the Roche du Solitaire, and the Rocher de la Table Ronde.

The Circuit Canal / Roches d’Achiffet begins at the Point I parking lot in Val-et-Châtillon. It is a 3-kilometer promenade with a walking-level difficulty rating. The hiking date is January 1, 2008.

Visiting Hours

Between Val-et-Châtillon and Saint-Sauveur, the Maison de la Forêt is located in a former, renovated sawmill.

The Musée du textile has seasonal opening hours: from May to October, it is open for visits on Thursdays and Sundays from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
