Culture and History
The Basilique Saint-Nicolas is a building of Flamboyant Gothic architecture with a basilica-style floor plan in the shape of a Latin cross and an unusual layout of the nave. Its construction began in 1481, and the building was consecrated in 1560.
The treasury of the Basilique Saint-Nicolas includes a reliquary arm of Saint Nicholas made of vermeil, gold, and silver. During tours of the towers, visitors can discover the roof structure, the flying buttresses, archaeological remains, the bell area, the so-called “vaisseau”, the great bell sound, and the observation point with a 360-degree view.
The Musée du Cinéma et de la Photographie documents the history of moving images and their projection, the beginnings of photography and cinema, as well as new digital imaging techniques. Since June 2, 2025, it has been permanently closed to the public in Saint-Nicolas-de-Port for safety reasons. Tours of the Musée Français de la Brasserie end with a tasting of a beer brewed especially for the museum.
The tourist trail through Saint-Nicolas-de-Port takes visitors on a walk past local features, architectural details, historical themes, and legends. The Festivités de la Saint-Nicolas also includes a traditional torchlight procession, referred to as the 779th edition.

Nature and Walking Trails
The Saint-Nicolas-de-Port stork enclosure was inaugurated on October 27, 1994, as the first enclosure for the reintroduction of the white stork in the Meurthe-et-Moselle département. Outside the stork enclosure, there are 53 stork nests visible to residents and tourists.
The signposted Sentiers du Haut d'Armont offer accessible walking routes of 3.5 or 5.5 kilometers through orchards and gardens, with opportunities to discover the local flora and fauna. The paths are equipped with explanatory panels and offer views of the Basilique Saint-Nicolas.
