History
The new church was rebuilt in 1737 on the site of the former church. The ground floor of the bell tower housed a chapel dedicated to Saint Sebastian, which was associated with a very old village community.
The church has a wrought-iron communion rail, considered one of the many masterpieces by Jean Lamour. The history of the Meurthe is also significant: the river was the scene of major timber rafting, involving unprocessed or cut timber from the Vosges, which supplied downstream villages and towns as well as other places. The last timber rafts passed through Blainville around 1895.
