Ancy-Sur-Moselle: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

At the Belvédère des Varieux, a rock platform emerges from the forest at an altitude of 320 metres; its panoramic view extends across the Val de Metz. La Joyeuse is also part of the landscape around Ancy-sur-Moselle: the left-bank tributary of the Moselle rises on the slope above the village district of Rongueville, runs through the village and flows into the Moselle after around 3 km. A naturally formed limestone block rests in balance on a narrow base.

Culture

The ossuary in Ancy’s cemetery dates from the 16th century and has been listed in the inventory of historic monuments since 1987. The stained-glass windows in the Eglise Notre-Dame de l’Assomption were created by the artist Camille HILAIRE, who came from Metz; the church’s fortified bell tower was restored after 1950.

Historical traces beneath and alongside the village also form part of its character: The underground aqueduct channel carried water from Gorze to Ars and ran through the territory of Ancy. The tower on Rue Lemal Perrin is the last surviving relic of the former fortified enclosure of Ancy Castle. The château at the entrance to the village, near the church, was built around 1724 on the site of part of Ancy’s former fortification ditches.

The romantic grounds of Château de Rongueville include an orchard, a kitchen garden, a wooded area, ponds and beds of ornamental plants. The park is open for visits during the Heritage Days and at certain events organised by the owners.

Ancy-sur-Moselle is a popular starting point for hikes on the Les côtes de Moselle route. On the Les côtes de Moselle route, the paths are marked with a yellow rectangle.
