Bojnice Castle stands on a travertine hill above the town of Bojnice. It was first mentioned in writing in 1113. The castle houses an art history museum with nationwide jurisdiction. The Buchlov educational trail in the Prievidza District is a 5.3-kilometre-long self-guided hiking trail with eight stations. The Vtáčnik educational trail in the Prievidza District is 7.8 kilometres long, has an elevation gain of 900 metres and takes approximately 3 to 4 hours. The Vtáčnik Mountains, part of which lies within the Prievidza District, are characterised by beech forests as well as mixed beech and fir forests.
In the Prievidza District, information panels are located along hiking trails, used forest roads and on peaks in nature reserves, at monuments and in protected areas of upper Ponitrie, including the Vtáčnik area. The Fraňo Madva educational trail provides information about the region's fauna, flora and geology, as well as about the life and work of Fraňo Madva. The trail is 12 kilometres long and has an elevation gain of 600 metres.
Winter sports, water activities and cycling
The Ski TMG Remata ski resort has a 500-metre-long ski slope with an elevation difference of 90 metres. Ski TMG Remata offers children's lifts and ski lessons. At the Remata resort, a railway station is located 400 metres from the accommodation.
Chalmová Thermal Spa is open year-round and has indoor pools for regeneration as well as outdoor pools for swimming. The Nitrianske Rudno Reservoir is suitable for swimming, boating, sailing, windsurfing, pedal boating and fishing. In the Horná Nitra–Bojnice destination, the reservoir is one of the locations for water-based recreation.
The Nedožery–Brezany–Malá Čausa–Chrenovec–Jalovec–Ráztočno–Remata cycle route is 11.6 kilometres long and ends in Remata.
