Sebedražie lies in the centre of Upper Nitra, at the northwestern foot of the Vtáčnik Mountains. The Ciglianka stream flows through the village. The most important landmark of Sebedražie is the Church of Saint Barbara.

Culture and history

The Church of Saint Barbara was originally Gothic and is mentioned in the second half of the 15th century. A new façade dates from 1874. The oldest written mention of Sebedražie dates back to 1245; from 1350, the village belonged to the Sivý Kameň estate. Local customs have also been passed down: in Sebedražie, Stavanie májov is regarded as a traditional local event.

At the Horná Nitra Open-Air Mining Museum, visitors travel underground on a typical mining train. The experience includes a 566-metre-long tour with expert commentary.

At the VODNÝ SVET leisure and recreation area in Sebedražie, various activities are brought together in one location. Visitors can fish there without a fishing licence. The area also includes a crayfish farm with a school in nature. An open-air gallery displays original works in stone and wood by prominent Slovak artists. Visitors can also sample freshly baked trout.

Golf is also represented in Sebedražie. The 9-hole golf course with a golf training centre enables both independent play and undisturbed practice. The course is 2,560 metres long and has a par of 35.

Cycling

The green route 5319 connects Prievidza at Nábrežie Jána Kalinčiaka with Sebedražie and is 8.3 kilometres long. The route runs along paved Class II roads that are also used by motor vehicles. The paved route and motor traffic are therefore part of the route described; the route is not designated as a car-free connection.
