Veľká Čausa combines a distinctive local history with sacred landmarks, protected natural monuments and a wide range of leisure activities. The modern Church of Saint Gorazd is particularly prominent; it was consecrated on 30 May 1999. Its origins date back further: the foundation stone was blessed by Pope John Paul II in Vajnory on 22 April 1990. The church is a filial church. The history of the village goes back a long way. Settlement in Veľká Čausa is believed to have begun in the 12th century, while the village was first mentioned in writing in 1358. A deed of donation from 1430 lists Veľká Čausa under the historical name “Nagy Cheuche”. A restored war grave is also one of the local memorial sites: it commemorates Jozef Počuch, a soldier who fell in the Slovak National Uprising.

The folklore group Dúbravka is also part of the cultural profile. It has been active in Veľká Čausa since 1983 and performs at cultural and entertainment events in the village and outside Veľká Čausa. The village is also a centre for the traditional craft of making Easter eggs, making a living handicraft tradition visible alongside the local history.

Nature

Geographically, Veľká Čausa lies in the southeastern part of the Upper Nitra Basin, along the middle course of the Handlovka. The village centre is situated at an elevation of 312 metres, while the municipal area ranges from 285 to 361 metres. Two large-leaved lime trees stand in the cemetery and were designated protected natural monuments in 1975. Their trunk circumferences are 353 and 441 centimetres, and the trees reach heights of 25 and 24 metres respectively.

Leisure

Local leisure activities include hiking, cycling, hunting, fishing and mushroom picking. In addition, the Koliba Pacho Resort in Veľká Čausa has an 18-hole mini-golf course. The resort also offers an outdoor children's playground. The cycling paths from the Koliba Pacho Resort connect to other officially signposted cycling routes.

Sports facilities with workout equipment and children's playgrounds have also been built in the public areas of Veľká Čausa. This means that various public and local facilities are available in the village, without being limited to a single form of leisure activity.
