The Cheile Vârghișului is a 4-kilometre-long gorge formed in Jurassic limestone in the Perșani Mountains. Together with the caves in the gorge, it forms an 800-hectare national nature reserve in IUCN Category IV, which overlaps with the Natura 2000 protected area RO SPA 0027 Dealurile Homoroadelor.

Nature
The Cheile Bicazului–Hășmaș National Park extends across Harghita and Neamț counties. The DN12C crosses the national park and connects Gheorgheni with Bicaz. The Cheile Vârghișului can be reached via the DN13A and then the DJ132, or via the DN12 and then the DJ131.
Lake Lacul Sfânta Ana lies in the crater of Ciomatul Mare and is a volcanic lake in Central and Eastern Europe. Boat trips on the lake are possible in an electric pontoon boat for a maximum of 12 people and a duration of 30 minutes.
Tinovul MohoÈ™ is an alpine peat bog in which 13 bodies of water remain. The bog is home to rare carnivorous plants from the Quaternary.
