The name Santa Ana first appears in a document dated August 5, 1648. The municipality of Santa Ana contains Roman archaeological sites, including Villarejo. The Iglesia Parroquial is located on Plaza de Don Lorenzo Canelo. It is an early 16th-century Baroque building that was subsequently altered several times. Its main chapel contains three 18th-century altars, including the Baroque high altar.

Casa de los Pizarros is a heavily altered and poorly preserved masonry building from the 16th century associated with the descendants of Francisco Pizarro. The façade has a round arch and a coat of arms of the Pizarro family carved in stone. Festivals and Local Traditions

The Romería de Nuestra Señora de la Dehesa takes place on the third Saturday in May at the hermitage in the Dehesa Boyal, which is dedicated to Nuestra Señora de la Dehesa. Traditional matanzas are regarded in Santa Ana as an old tradition that has been maintained for decades. On Shrove Tuesday, the local tradition involves a cow figure built by young people from Santa Ana from a wooden frame with the skeleton of a cow’s head; two young people carry it.
