S'argamassa: Holiday apartment between coves, pine forests and Roman history

S'argamassa combines a coastal landscape surrounded by pine and juniper forests with impressive traces of its Roman past. The area consists of interconnected coves. Several small sandy coves lie along the beach, separated from one another by rocky sections. The coast therefore does not appear as one continuous stretch of sand, but as a varied succession of small coves and natural rocky areas.

Nature

The water at S'argamassa Beach is clear and has emerald-green hues. Very shallow sandy seabeds with Posidonia lie in front of it. These sandy and Posidonia seabeds can be explored while snorkelling. The surrounding landscape also remains distinctive: the interconnected coves are surrounded by pine and juniper forests.

Culture

S'argamassa's special historical significance includes its Roman archaeological site. It is classified as a Cultural Heritage Site of Special Interest (BIC), archaeological zone. In addition to a water conduit, the site includes an industrial facility and a maritime-rural settlement. The focus is therefore not on a single structure, but on a larger archaeological context.

The Roman aqueduct of S'argamassa dates from the 1st century and is 425 m long. It was part of a fish-farming facility where garum was produced. During restoration work, a path was created along its 397 m-long structure.

Water

Windsurfing is possible at S'argamassa Beach. The watersports centre on the beach also offers boat trips. Those who prefer to explore the coast directly from the shore will find very shallow sandy and Posidonia seabeds for snorkelling. The activities are thus spread across the water itself, the shallow coastal area and the offerings of the watersports centre.

Getting around

On the coastal path from S'argamassa towards Cala Pada, there are several places where walkers can reach the water. S'argamassa can be reached by road from Santa Eulària des Riu. The beach is 4 km away; parking is available nearby.
