Holiday apartment in Nuestra Señora De Jesús – Culture, Festivals and Trails
Jesús combines cultural history, festival traditions and named landscapes with trails. The present-day centre of Jesús developed around a small church built by Franciscans towards the end of the 15th century. It is complemented by a restored defensive fortification, an altarpiece attributed on art-historical grounds and festivals whose programme includes both religious and social elements.
Culture
A prominent part of Jesús's history is the Torre de Ca n'Espatleta in the parish of Jesús. It is a restored defensive fortification and is classified as a Bien de Interés Cultural (BIC). As part of its restoration in 2020, the rooms of the Torre de Ca n'Espatleta were prepared for visits. Thus, this building focuses both on its former function as a defensive fortification and on its current restored condition.
The Retablo de Jesús is also part of the cultural heritage. It is attributed to the workshop of the Valencian artists Roderic and Francesc d’Osona. This attribution deliberately preserves the connection to this workshop without personally attributing the work to individual artists.
Festivals
The Festes de Jesús are patron-saint celebrations in honour of the Mare de Déu de Jesús. Their character arises from the combination of religious and traditional events with concerts, communal feasts, sporting activities and cultural activities. The traditional “fonyada de raïm” also takes place every year during the Festes de Jesús. In addition to their religious occasion, the celebrations therefore also have an established local event character.
Nature
The Es Prat de Ses Monges area of Ses Feixes extends to the village of Jesús and adds a natural area to the cultural and historical themes.
Trails
Eighteen visible trails are marked on a map for Sa Marina de Jesús. In addition, Hiking Route 10 “Jesús, Cala Espart y s’Estanyol” begins in the village of Jesús. The two details refer to different named trail connections: one to the trails visible on a map in Sa Marina de Jesús and the other to a route whose starting point is in the village of Jesús.
