Nature

The entire marine area of Cala Llenya beach lies within the special protection area for birds ES0000517 “Espacio marino del levante de Ibiza”. The scientific designation explicitly identifies the plant species at the centre of the cove and adds a specific marine detail to the coastal landscape. The seagrass meadow is therefore not located generally along the coast, but is expressly identified as being in the central area of the cove.

The origin of the place name also refers to the landscape: the name Cala Llenya refers to the lush pine forests there, which were formerly used to obtain firewood. On both sides of the beach are old landing jetties that were once used by local fishermen. Their former use and their connection to the place name thus preserve two different periods in the history of the landscape side by side.

Water sports

Behind Cala Llenya, a path leads to the nearby beach of Cala Nova. Water sports available in Cala Llenya include windsurfing, kitesurfing, stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking.
