Culture

At the Centre d’Interpretació Madina Yabisa, visitors can learn about the history of the city, and Madina Yabisa in particular, during Muslim rule. History

Another historic site is the Puig des Molins necropolis. Throughout antiquity, Puig des Molins served as the cemetery of Ibiza Town. The scale of this site can also be understood from two different perspectives: approximately 350 to 400 hypogea are visible from the outside, while the total number of graves is estimated at around 3,000. This estimate does not include other forms of burial.

MACE originated from the Ibiza Biennale, which opened in 1964. The organisers wanted to use the award-winning works as the museum’s first collection. The permanent exhibition at the Museo Arqueológico de Ibiza y Formentera provides another point of reference in time: it covers more than 3,000 years of history.
