Discover Chía: Viewpoints, Trails and Holiday Apartments
Chía lies on the slope of the Sierra de Chía. From the town’s natural viewpoints, you can look out over the Benasque Valley; on the horizon are Turbón and the Sierra de Sis. A signposted, comfortable path leads to the Mirador de Chía, a viewpoint with benches and information boards. For orientation, you can consider the hillside location, valley views and viewpoint separately; they describe different spatial aspects of the same place.
Hiking and Cycling
The Ruta de los miradores is a family hiking route that leads to the Ermita de la Encontrada and the Mirador de Chía, offering panoramic views over the Benasque Valley and the Pyrenees. BTT Route 21 runs from Chía to the Collado de la Cruz and back. When planning your day, you can distinguish hiking and mountain biking by type of activity and destination.
The PR-HU 51 leads uphill from Chía towards the scenic Cruz de Benás. The PR-HU 87 begins about 2 km from Chía; its signposted turn-off is reached via the PR-HU 51 in the direction of Seira. For planning purposes, you can use direction, trail type and the outward-and-return route as separate points of comparison.
Around Chía, the trails can therefore be distinguished by hiking, mountain biking and signposted PR routes. Panorama, circular routes and a specific direction likewise represent different forms of trail planning: the focus may be on enjoying the views, a route that returns to the starting point or a connection in the direction of a named destination.
Culture
The parish church of San Vicente in Chía dates from the 18th century. Outside Chía lies the Ermita de San Martín, a 12th-century Romanesque building with Jacobean influence and a bell tower. The period, architectural form and the architectural features mentioned can be considered separately.
On every Saturday in May, pilgrimages take place to the Ermita de la Virgen de la Encontrada; the festival in honour of the Virgin is celebrated on 8 September. You can note the dates separately if you want to place the religious traditions in their chronological context. Casa Chongastán is a family restaurant in Chía that brings the taste of the mountains to every dish.
Getting There
Chía can be reached via an uphill road from the A-139, shortly after the turn-off to Castejón de Sos, when coming from the direction of Congosto del Ventamillo. A track leads over the Collado de Sahún into the neighbouring Chistau Valley. For planning your journey, you can consider the road access and the route along the track separately.
Holiday Apartment in Chía
When looking for a holiday apartment in Chía, you can compare travel dates, room category and cancellation policies side by side on accommodation listing pages. Such a comparison makes different offers comparable based on the same fields. The three details provide a consistent basis for comparing specific offers.
