A piece of Fiscal’s local history is the Batán de Lacort, which was moved from Lacort to Fiscal. Its machinery is housed in a small building at the entrance to the village near the river and the medieval bridge. A water conduit at the Batán de Lacort enables the machinery to operate.

Culture

The Church of the Assumption in Fiscal has a richly sculpted southern portal with a classically influenced architectural design. It also includes a 16th-century defensive tower with Gothic windows and loopholes. Next to the church stands the Pórtico de Jánovas, a late Romanesque portal that was moved from Jánovas to Fiscal for preservation. Historical details, relocated structures and religious architecture create different cultural accents.

The festival in honour of Our Lady of the Assumption takes place in Fiscal from 13 to 15 August. The programme includes daytime events as well as evening orchestra performances and shows, held mainly in the church square. The fixed dates and the alternation between daytime and evening events give the festival a clear place in the annual calendar.

Hiking and Water

Around Fiscal, there are approximately 23 hiking trails of varying difficulty levels. Each designated hiking route includes a map, photos and a detailed description for planning an excursion. The combination of different difficulty levels and detailed route information helps visitors compare hiking options by length and challenge.

The Ara River offers kayaking sections along its entire length, ranging from low to very technical difficulty. Hiking and kayaking therefore represent different forms of active days: the routes can be considered by difficulty level, while the Ara offers a broad technical range in its kayaking sections.

For the 2025 season, a section of the Ara River in Fiscal between Puente Viejo de Fiscal and Pasarela de Lacort has been designated as a fishing stretch. This section adds a time-designated use of the river to the different ways in which the locality is connected to the water, while the kayaking sections along the entire length of the Ara are classified according to their technical difficulty.

Orientation

The Fiscal tourist information office is located at Avda. Jesús, s/n, 22373 Fiscal.

The hiking trails are documented with maps, photos and detailed descriptions. For classifying the water-based activities, however, different information is relevant: the fishing stretch is designated for the 2025 season, while the kayaking sections range from low to very technical difficulty. This allows the two topics to be considered separately, without combining them into a single activity.

Landscape and Surroundings

The peaks of Peña Canciás, Punta Gradatiello, Punta Berroy and Punta Fobions are located in the immediate vicinity of Fiscal. The Monasterio de San Juan de Matidero is located in the area around Fiscal.

In the wider regional surroundings of Fiscal are the Parque Nacional de Ordesa and the Parque Nacional de Ordesa y Monte Perdido.

The destinations mentioned belong to different geographical areas: the four peaks are in the immediate vicinity, the monastery is in the surrounding area, and the two parks are in the wider regional surroundings of Fiscal. This distinction keeps the landscape and cultural destinations separate as points of reference.
