Chibluco: Romanesque Art, Pilgrimages and Nature

In the presbytery of Santa Cecilia, the figurative capitals depict scenes of adultery or greed, as well as the weighing of souls. The parish church of Santa Cecilia in Chibluco is a Romanesque building dating from the late 12th to early 13th century and reuses older foundations.

Culture

Chibluco's main festival takes place on 12 June in honour of San Juan Sahagún. Chibluco's smaller festival takes place on 22 November in honour of Santa Cecilia. On 1 May, Chibluco takes part in the pilgrimage to the Virgen del Viñedo chapel, and on the last Sunday in May in the pilgrimage to San Martín de la Val d’Onsera. The fixed dates give you several clearly dated cultural occasions for planning your schedule.

Castillo de Montearagón is a castle in the surrounding area of Chibluco. The Musée de Huesca is a museum in the surrounding area of Chibluco. Catedral - Museo Diocesano is also a museum in the surrounding area of Chibluco. Art and Nature Center - Beulas Foundation is also a museum in the surrounding area of Chibluco. The castle and museums are separate types of attractions alongside the church and festival calendar. Casa Lino is a restaurant in Chibluco.

Nature and Trails

Route 4 follows the former path from San Julián to Huesca between Chibluco and San Julián de Banzo. From Chibluco, it leads via San Julián de Banzo to the Chinebro Milenario. South of Chibluco, the Chinebro Milenario is an outstanding specimen of Juniperus oxycedrus.

Near the Flumen by Chibluco, there is a small bridge of possible Roman origin. Cerro la Cuasta is a peak in the immediate vicinity of Chibluco. Cerro Fanfanrongan, Matapaños and Cerro Estillero are peaks in the surrounding area of Chibluco. You can consider the route, tree, bridge and peaks as separate focal points and organise the landscape according to your preferred theme.

Two perspectives are helpful when planning a stay in Chibluco: the festivals and pilgrimages with fixed dates form a cultural calendar, while Route 4 and the landscape attractions in the surrounding area bring together different nature and trail themes. Those who want to combine both can organise their days by occasion or connection to the landscape, without grouping the church, museums, castle, tree, bridge and peaks together as a single excursion destination. The separate types of attractions show whether the focus should be on history, religious dates, trails or individual landscape features.

When choosing a holiday apartment in Chibluco, travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions can be considered separately. This information is part of planning your accommodation; Chibluco's cultural and landscape attractions remain identifiable as separate topics.
