Nová Lehota in the Považský Inovec Mountains – Holiday Apartments and SKI Bezovec

Nová Lehota is located in the Považský Inovec Mountains. The SKI Bezovec ski resort is also located in Nová Lehota. Historic buildings, protected landscapes and signposted trails give the village several clearly recognisable facets.

Winter Sports and Trails

SKI Bezovec has four ski lifts and a total of 1.6 kilometres of ski runs. The SKI Bezovec area also offers night skiing on 300 metres of illuminated slopes. A signposted blue hiking trail to Tematín Castle leads from the Bezovec cottage area near Nová Lehota through meadows and forest. The Via Považský Inovec cycle route is also connected to the village: it descends to Nová Lehota and then climbs to the saddle below Bezovec.

Nature

Mokvavý prameň is a protected natural monument in Nová Lehota, designated in 1983. The area covers 20,989 m² and is subject to the fourth level of protection. Mokvavý prameň is also an easily accessible study site and an important landscape-forming element.

The Dubový vŕšok Nature Reserve is located in the cadastral area of Nová Lehota, was designated in 1993 and is also subject to the fourth level of protection. Dubový vŕšok protects a valuable section of an oligotrophic, acidic-soil oak forest on the crystalline bedrock of the Považský Inovec Mountains, with typical indicator plants. Dastínska kyselka, an alkaline mineral spring, is also associated with Nová Lehota.

Culture and History

The Evangelical Church of Nová Lehota is a single-nave Neo-Romanesque building dating from 1866. Next to the church stands a wooden belfry with an open structure and a pyramidal roof. The Chapel of Saint Anthony of Padua is a single-nave building dating from 1903.

Nová Lehota was first mentioned in written records in 1348 as part of the Tematín estate. A marble war memorial bearing the names of eighteen people who fought and died in the two world wars stands in the village square. Another distinctive feature is the television series “Horná Dolná”, in which Nová Lehota appears as the village of Horná Dolná.
